Chicago

Chicago

Being the spontaneous couple that we are, we decided to visit the City of Chicago, Illinois during winter. Although many locals were confused to hear about our choice to visit in February, one of the coldest months, and during snow days, we must admit that we had an awesome time! In fact, the snow made the city even more beautiful and exciting.

The City of Chicago is also known as the Windy City, Chi-Town, and the City of Big Shoulders among other nicknames. The big shoulders name refers to the many skyscrapers and towers throughout the city.

We really cannot decided what our favorite thing about Chi-Town is. The fact that Chicago is the third largest city in the United States makes for a thrilling destination. As soon as we arrive at O’Hare International Airport, our adventure began. This airport is known to be one of the busiest airports in the world.

The Windy City has a lot to offer. We bought the CityPASS to help us explore tourist locations and in just a few days, we were able to visit all of the locations included in the pass. One of our favorite attraction was the Sky Deck. The thrill we got from standing on the famous glass floor was indescribable. Similarly, we loved visiting the 360 Observation Deck. We visited during the night hours and the night lights made for a romantic experience and spectacular views of Chicago.

Included in our CityPASS were several museums that we enjoyed checking out. Our favorite was the Shedd Aquarium. We got to see white belugas and lots of other fun sea animals. The Field Museum had a large number of halls that were interesting and very informative. Don’t forget to wear your comfortable shoes if you decide to visit museums in the city.

When it comes to finding good food, Chicago does not disappoint. From trying the best deep dish pizza at Lou Malnati’s and Giordano’s, to dining at places where foodies recommend, our taste buds could not be any happier. And what can we say about the Chicago-style hot dogs, they’re unique and full of delicious toppings. We could not leave the city without stopping for a quick popcorn snack at Garrett Popcorn. Their gourmet flavors are to die for so be sure to stop by.

If you got time and would like to detour to some cool art walls in the city, we highly suggest you do so. The street art is free to look at and you’ll enjoy getting lost in this exciting town. As cheesy as it sounds, The Black and White Love Wall was one of our favorite walls.

Of course, you cannot skip Cloud Gate, also known as “The Bean.” This big shiny stainless steel sculpture is fascinating to look at. It reflects the beautiful city and makes for fun photos.
