Mercado 20 de Noviembre is a large market that has a variety of very affordable traditional Oaxacan dishes in a crowded but clean environment.

Once you try Oaxacan tamales, they will have you dreaming of them. They are wrapped on a large banana leaf that makes the corn so tender and moist. The black mole flavors are so rich that you can taste the sweet chocolate and the many other ingredients used to prepared these traditional delicacy.

Hot Chocolate And Bread

Oaxaca is known to have the best chocolate in the heart of Mexico. After all, chocolate originated from the Aztecs and Oaxacan people have been using the bitter cocoa beans for many of their godly dishes. You can’t leave Oaxaca without trying a hot chocolate with your choice of milk or water accompanied with traditional bread from the region. It is simply the best!

Cangreburguers

Outside Santo Domingo church, there’s a young and friendly Oaxacan guy selling the best juicy burgers and hotdogs right from his mobile cart. For just $30 pesos, you get a glorious gourmet burger made with fresh pineapple, grilled onions, ham, yellow cheese, queso oaxaqueno, lettuce, tomato, mustard, ketchup, and sour cream on toasted buns.
